Dubmire Primary School, actively encourages pupils to make choices, knowing that they are in a safe and supportive environment. Children are taught how to keep themselves safe, including on-line. This is done through computing lessons, assemblies and outside organisations such as the NSPCC, as well as through the PSHE curriculum.
Pupils are encouraged to take responsibility for their behaviour, as well as knowing their rights e.g. through all of their interaction with adults and each other in school.
We implement a strong anti-bullying culture – as outlined in our policies for Anti-Bullying and Behaviour.
We support pupils to develop their self-knowledge, self-esteem and self-confidence e.g. through all areas of teaching and learning in school. Children are taught about personal responsibility, choices, ambition and aspiration. They are encouraged to take opportunities to follow their interests in art, music, sport etc. We aim to challenge stereotypes through our SMSC/PHSE work and assemblies.
