Dubmire Primary School encourages pupils to be global citizens through building understanding and key learning in the Geography. We have an International Coordinator and at present we have links with Jing Wei Primary School, China. Through this, opportunities are interwoven into our curriculum so they are meaningful and promote tolerance, understanding and interdependence.
We provide age appropriate opportunities to discuss differences between people, such as differences of faith, ethnicity, disability, gender or sexuality and differences of family situations, such as looked-after children or young carers.
Tolerance of different faiths and beliefs is promoted through the agreed Syllabus for Religious Education. Children learn about different religions, their beliefs, places of worship and festivals. The children’s work on this subject or whole school learning in assemblies is often displayed in the classrooms or around the school.
Visits to school are made by local religious leaders and children have the opportunity to visit places of worship as appropriate to their curriculum. Assemblies also mark and celebrate significant religious festivals such as Ramadan and Diwali.
