The award for Dubmire in 17/18 and the priorities for academic year 17/18 will be available by Monday 30th October.
The award for Dubmire in 16/17 was £9690.
The seven government priorities for the use of the Sports Premium Funding is as follows:
- Achieving high quality P.E.
- Increasing participation and inclusion
- Promoting healthy, active lifestyles
- Providing competitive school sport
- Developing leadership, the curriculum and subject profile
- Contributing to pupils’ overall achievement
- Developing partnerships
After consultation with parents, pupils, staff and governors it was agreed that the Schools Sports Premium Funding at Dubmire should be used to support a P.E./Health Coach to work with all stakeholders in improving the quality of existing Physical Activity.
Fine and gross motor skills
Mr. Topping is now working with EYFS and Year 1 to develop children’s fine and gross motor skills. This has been put in place to improve handwriting skills and functional movements on the recommendations of early years teaching staff.
The impact of this has been:
|Use of ‘Premier League Primary Stars’. This is incorporated into lesson plans and extra-curricular activities. It has also provided us with p.e equipment and resources.|
|Working with other sports coaches from across the academy to take part in an Academy Quad Kids sports day.|
|Improved quality of PPA cover activities for teaching staff i.e. planning and delivery of P.E.|
|Morning exercise club for children with Special Educational Needs.|
|Increased after school provision.|
|Development and training of the school football team, organisation of transport and partnership with ‘Total Sports’.|
|Holiday football and dance camps for children aged 5-11 years.|
|Swimming sessions monitored and evaluated. Participation in Sunderland Schools swimming gala.|
|Collation of Sainsburys’ sports vouchers, which enables increased equipment and achievement of the ‘Silver Sainsburys School Games Award’.|
|Improved links with The LAF team, Durham Football Association and S.A.F.C in the Foundation – Skills development in Reception. Participation and team games in Year 1-6.|
|Reorganisation of school sports day to include intra-school activities.|
|Fundraising for Sports Relief and Race for Life annually.|
|Football pitch and goals altered to enable team matches to be played at home.|
|Educational residential visit to Kingswood in Hexham – outdoor adventure and activities.|
|New P.E. subject leader appointed – Network meetings attended to aid the implementation of the new primary curriculum.|
|Community sports fitness classes established.|
|We are aiming for silver/gold in the newly established “A Great Active Sunderland School Mark”. Within doing this, we are coving active travel, change4life champions, healthy adults in school, local club links, extra-curricular activities and lunch activities.|
