Important Information

All about me

We are aware that when your child starts daycare you have a lot of forms to complete but the ‘All About Me’ pack is vital for the staff within the rooms working directly with your child/children.  It gives us a clear understanding of your child’s likes and dislikes and enables us to have a sound knowledge of the family before they settle within the setting.

Documentation required

The information pack provided is for you to keep for future reference but we will require you to provide us with the following documentation:

Entering the setting

Our signing in register is situated in the entrance to the setting.  All children must be signed in and out at the beginning and end of each session.  There is an intercom system in use for each room.

Times

Our Opening times are from 8.00am until 6.00pm, Monday to Friday 50 weeks of the year.  Morning sessions start from 8.00am until 1.00pm.  Afternoon sessions start from 1.00 pm until 6.00pm.  We also offer rising 3 hours and Wrap around care for children.  This is to be discussed and agreed on an individual basis with the Childcare Manager.  Any children collected late will incur a £10.00 charge.

Holidays

Children are entitled to 10 days annual leave per year.  We start the holiday year alongside the start of the financial year which is April.  Holiday forms are available in the entrance and are to be completed when requesting leave.
If your child attends on a ‘rising 3’ basis they will follow the typical school year holidays.  Holiday forms must be completed if you wish to take a holiday in term time.

Absence

As part of our Safeguarding policy, if your child is absent we would require you to inform us.  We will ring after 10am or 2pm if we are unaware of your child’s whereabouts to clarify.

Newsletters and Activity sheets

Newsletters and Activity sheets are available in the duckets in the entrance of the daycare and on our website. Please check on a regular basis for newsletters to keep you up to date with information regarding the setting.

Clothing and accessories

Can parents please ensure that all of your child’s clothing is clearly labelled.  We do go outdoors in all weathers so please can you provide your child with wellies, weather appropriate clothing and spares, sun hats, winter hat, scarf, gloves etc. We encourage children to brush their teeth after lunch so we would like you to supply your child/children with a toothbrush and toothpaste.

Illness

If your child becomes ill at childcare you will be notified immediately, so please make sure we have your emergency contact and telephone number.  If your child has any medical problems please ensure we have full details.  Please refer to our Medication policies and procedures. Please keep your child at home if they have an infection.  Parents should inform childcare about the nature of the infection so staff may inform other parents and make observations of any child who seems unwell. In the case of vomiting or diarrhoea your child must be clear for 48 hours before returning to childcare.

Toilet Training

It is understood at this age that children will be starting to, or will have commenced toilet training. With the bathroom facilities linked to the room children are provided with quick and easy access as and when required.  All of our staff are aware that all children and each family approach training in different ways and we are there to support and work with parents and children to give guidance and encouragement as much as possible.

Uniform

For Rising 3’s Nursery we have a uniform in daycare as we believe this helps your child to feel part of our setting. The children are required to be in full uniform for every session unless otherwise requested. In order to support your child in becoming as independent as possible we suggest that you consider easy fastening shoes and elasticated waists. As the children access both indoor and outdoor activities throughout the day they will also need wellingtons and a pair of slippers. A peg bag will be provided to keep your child’s shoes safely on their peg.

Daily Diaries

Every child has a diary which records day to day information for you concerning toileting, meal times and any specific information we feel you may need to know that day. Similarly we would welcome any information from yourselves, that you may need to pass on that day, concerning your child.

Learning Journals

We keep individual learning journals for all the children to record their progress and development. These include photographs, observations and samples of the children’s work. We would also welcome any comments or photographs that you could include showing achievements that your child has made whilst at home. These could also be added to our parent observation boards which we have displayed in each room. Your child's journal will record their learning journey throughout this important stage of their development and will provide you with treasured memories of their time with us. Feel free to look at them at anytime.
