Year 1 have had an exciting first half of the Spring Term. We have been looking at and enjoying traditional tales. Throughout the topic of Traditional Tales, we have orally retold, with actions, a few of our favourites, including: The Three Billy Goats Gruff, The Elves and the Shoemaker and our current story Little Red Riding Hood.
This has linked to our science and design where we have been to the woods to design and make houses for woodland animals, including ‘The Big Bad Wolf’. During one of our walks we looked out for wolf prints, and to our surprise we found a wolf peeking out from behind the trees, just like in the story of Little Red Riding Hood, luckily for us it was only Mrs Brown. Since the beginning of the year we have focused on the seasons of the year, and during our woods visits, we have observed the seasonal changes from Autumn to Winter.
In geography we have also learned about the countries that make up the United Kingdom. Next term we will find out about their capital cities.
Also in the spring half term we will find out all about pets and plants.
