Science
At Dubmire we intend to provide children with a rich and varied curriculum, which aims to enrich the experiences and understanding of the children through practical investigative enquiry. We aim to give all children a “wow” moment which ignites a love of learning and within these moments the children will be supported to develop essential investigatory skills which will develop throughout their school career. We will implement this by working together with the children to develop child friendly assessment criteria so they can take ownership over their own learning and the teachers will work together to ensure that there is consistency across the school in teaching and assessment. The children will experience science in many different ways, including interactions with local experts to enhance their learning experience. The impact of all of this is that Dubmire creates lifelong learners, with independent investigative skills that are useful throughout life, especially for those children who are inspired to follow careers in scientific fields. Teachers are confident and children are able to take risks, learning through their experiences and embedding their skills and knowledge.
